He was heavily influenced by Ossian-mania. Drawing on the writings of English antiquaries, as well as on Iolo's fabrications, he published two well-received volumes on Druidism: Celtic Researches (1804) and The Mythology and Rites of the British Druids (1809). As a result of his criticism of Iolo's material in his volumes, Iolo's later relationship with him was rather stormy. |
