J. WilliamsG. J. Williams was a lecturer and later Professor of Welsh at the University College of Wales, Cardiff. Through his detailed study of Iolo Morganwg's manuscripts he demonstrated that several of the poems attributed to medieval poets such as Rhys Goch ap Rhiccert had in fact been composed by Iolo himself. His pioneering volume Iolo Morganwg a Chywyddau'r Ychwanegiad (1926) reveal that the poems published in the 'Appendix' to the 1789 edition of the poems of Dafydd ap Gwilym were forgeries by Iolo. |
